Living Toxic in America Part 1

By Scott Cody, PharmD

We have enormous problems globally, and many are suffering and looking for answers (in the wrong place).  This article will help you find solutions.  For some, it will change your life forever.  If you are unwilling to do something different, nothing will change for you.

You may remember that I am a pharmacist/clinical analyst.  That means I am used to doing research and looking for patterns and outliers.  I can’t count the number of articles and books I have read over the last 15 years and the thousands of hours of research.  I begin researching a subject when I have a question.  Often the answers given to me are superficial and incomplete.  I want to know way more than most people do.

HOW SICK ARE WE?  When I ask that question in today’s environment, I get COVID statistics.  COVID information is only the tip of the iceberg.  The underlying beneath-the-surface answers are not what you will see on the news at night or read in a weekly news magazine.

This year 1 million people will die of cardiovascular disease!  If that many people were dying in airplane crashes, would you still fly?  We hardly give these million deaths a second thought.

In 1990, 1 out of 15 women was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Today, one out of eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer sometime in their lifetime.  The breast cancer rate in Japan is now 1 out of 38.  It was much better a decade ago, but they are still much safer than the Western world.  Because of the fish diet, Japanese women consume around 25 mg/day of iodine.  You should know that in North America, we get about 200 micrograms a day! (1000 micrograms (mcg) = 1 mg)   Iodine is also helpful in preventing damage when exposed to radiation.  It is interesting to note that many people with cancer have an iodine level of almost zero.  Iodine concentrates in the thyroid, breast tissue, and sex organs.  We should be taking more iodine.

When I first became a pharmacist, autistic children were rare.  The incidence was about one child out of 10,000 was autistic.  Today, the CDC reports that one child out of 44 will be diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.  You should know that boys are four times more likely to be autistic than girls.  Something is seriously wrong.  There are many great researchers globally, and we can’t figure out what the cause is?

Do you have any idea how common it is for a pregnant woman to have a miscarriage?  Here is another example of increasing problems.  The miscarriage rate is about 30% of pregnancies now.  In 2000, about 20% of pregnancies ended in miscarriage.  That is a considerable increase.

For every three babies born today, one will become diabetic in their lifetime.  Our healthcare system spends most of the money on sick care.  We don’t have “health” care in this country.

The US is 20th in terms of wellness—we’re behind many 3rd world countries!  However, the US spends more money per capita on healthcare than any other country in the world.  (Is something wrong here?).

Can you name a prescription drug that makes you healthy?  What would it be?  Over 66% of the US population takes prescription medication regularly.  The elderly are in worse shape.  As a group, 40% of them take five or more prescriptions, and nearly 10% take ten or more prescription drugs daily, according to a 2020 report from the nonpartisan think tank Lown Institute.

Do you believe we are living in a toxic world?  We are in contact with toxins daily in our water, food, and the air we breathe.  Let’s take water, for instance.  I’m taking a considerable risk.  I ingested 8 oz of tap water, containing around 700 toxic chemicals, including Zoloft, Wellbutrin, birth control pills, and glyphosate.  It is so bad that municipal sewer facilities use screens to catch the pills!  When you go in for a colonoscopy, docs tell me that not only don’t the pills dissolve, but they can still read the imprint on the tablet!
